The City Kid (Part 3): Reflection

Reflection, looking back and thinking about how our past actions have done. We reflect, to ponder on what we’ve done. We reflect, to think about what went wrong. We reflect, to see what’s ahead. Alas, like the historian always say, human never learn from their mistakes.

Strolling along the Singapore River, there wasn’t a specific destination, just like how we often wander around in life. Moving ahead to wherever our legs brought us, we started our deep conservation which revolves about everything in life. Everyone has a different definition about this four letter word, I often wonder whether can it even be explained in words. L-I-F-E.

The entrée into the prestigious building gave us a thought. What will happened five years, or even ten years down the road. Where will we be, how will we progress, who will be with us. Anything, and everything just came flooding in. Grazing at the people in suits and ties, we reassured ourselves they would be the people who will come looking for us. Indeed, where better else to dream, than Fullerton Hotel.

We were brought back to the harsh reality when we realised there were so much things in life that we had not contemplate about. At the current stage, everything seems so vague, so far away. A mist between us and the other side, as we drifted around with blindfolds, grasping in the dark for, that something in life.

People always never cherished the time they had together. And just like how the dramas always act out, it is only when you lost it then you realised the importance of it. When you’re gone, the pieces of my heart are missing you. When you’re gone, the face I came to know is missing too. When you’re gone, the words I need to hear to get me through the day and make it okay, I miss you.

Time and tide waits for no man. The fountain of life, shows us how valuable, and how short life is. Pain, they say, is temporary, and time always heal all wounds. What is uncertain now, will be clear one day. I once read a book where the author made a deep impression on me. He said, if you are not going to think about this during the last hour of your life, don’t bother too much about it now. How very true.

A round of journey is almost completed, as we travelled from the timeless Singapore river, to where our future beckons. This bodes well for us, positive thoughts always help, especially so in the complicated and chaotic situation we lived in.

Like President Obama once said, “Hope is that thing inside us that insist that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it.” Reflecting back, how many times have you had the courage to reach out for what you wanted. Have faith.

Reflection of how the day went by, reflection of what we’ve done in the past, reflection of our relationships with the people around us, reflection of everything and anything. It is only when we reflect, that we understand and appreciate the things that had happened, and then we can moved on, to new pasture greens.

I wish the best for your future endeavours.
