LIC Cake Hunt: Have em and eat em too, with me!

September 17, 2008 | 27 Comments

Ever since i was raving about my dim sum a while ago, i’m not one who rest on one’s laurel. Wah Lok, Royal China, Zhou’s Kitchen, and of course many more to come! But after reflecting on my past posts, i only realised that i’ve been neglecting my other love, i’m refering to cakes and desserts of course.

A look back, the last time i’ve a decent piece of cake was probably way back during July at Caffe Beviamo, and Eden. Now now, that won’t do right, especially for a cake lover like me. I know i know, i have been saying for ages since stone-age that i want to go to Canele, but when’s that post gonna come out you ask?

All right, after seeing hautestuff post about her 6th visit to Canele already (yes sixth!), i decided i can no longer ignore nature’s (my stomach) calling!

  • Allanbake
  • Awfully chocolate
  • B bakery
  • Bakerzin Deluxe
  • Blue magnolia

Okay, we need more volunteers who don’t mind the extra sugar and calories. Takers? Let’s just explore around and eat cakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Who can eat cakes for dinner too? Takers? Oh ya, feel free to add on to my list!

Cakes for 3 meals? I think you will shun cakes for a period after the cake hunt. Haha.

Tried a couple of cakes from your list. I am a cake-lover but to have it for 3 meals is a little heavy… Let me know if you have any interesting findings or I don’t mind tagging along to share the calories.

Do you mean the Patissier at Ann Siang Rd and Mohd Sultan?

Anyways I’ve thought of Laurent’s Chocolate Bar & Cafe at Robertson Quay. And Ricciotti at the Riverwalk :P

    yixiao: Cheers

Fen: yeah no problem, will let you know : )

jy: Yep, thats the one. How’s laurent choc cake? u try them before? Ricciotti, rings a bell but can’t remember whether i seen the place before or not. they got good cakes and desserts too?

wentong: yeah man! wanna some cake? haha

I am curious about Laurent’s Chocolate Bar & Cafe at Robertson Quay but was held back by their no photography rule…

As for Ricciotti, it hasn’t disappointed me yet, so far, the desserts are fantastic. You guys should try the pizza, I can simply finish everything on my own…

I am eyeing at Patissier too…

*Getting excited when I talk about cakes*

hahaha cos we can bluff ourselves that cakes from cedele are healthy. =P

I know of people that ignore the rule and took pictures and frankly speaking, I did drop Laurent’s an email regarding the “no photography rule”. The boss seems quite persistent of it. I mean the mail is pleasant but I just feel uneasy about it. If I were to eat from Laurent, it will definitely be a take-away.

Cakes are never healthy, the calories is close to or even more than a main course… hehe… so when cakes are concerned, go for the best and indulge… Hehe

fatpig: haha, cheesecake cafe the east coast one? ya i heard about ristornate de parma tiramisu too.

wenxiu: nice one! now i know why girls like cedele. haha

fen: oo.. so did they get caught in the process of taking photos? haha. i heard the laurent’s boss kind of arrogant, but i guess he’s good then can be arrogant.

wentong: yeah thanks for reminding about 2am, missed them out. But their cakes are really tiny and expensive.

sihan: yep i heard about that too, i been saying for ages that i want to go brown sugar but i haven been there. Somebody bring there can? haha

LIC, giving me new hunting grounds :) hehe, I will check out choupinette, but not so soon… 3 buffets coming in for the month of Oct… haha…

Noisette was not too bad right, the chocolate mousse is pretty rich but I have to admit that Checkers Deli cheesecake is good…

Allanbakes, apart from cheesecake, any other recommendations?

Fen: Hahaha, we are sharing hunting grounds :) Wow, going where for the 3 buffets?

i didn’t like obolo’s noisette cos it was not as dense as i’d like it to be- i like the one in canele (the square ferrero looking chocolate nutty beauty whose name i forgot!)

nope i havent tried choupinette though its somewhere michelle and i will wanna try soon cos its very near us =)

allanbakes serves other creamy and non-cream cakes as well – i distinctly remember a fruit cake without rum (cos it’d taste strange!) go to his website and see..allanbakes.com…his classic strawberry cheesecake is not as nice as the white chocolate strawberry cheesecake imho

yeah i saw the cakes on allanbakes already, will try it soon : )

Fen: wow, so many buffets at one go. but i don’t really fancy buffet, makes me too full. haha
